Bellagio is situated on the point of the promontory that separates the two branches of Lake Como. The glacier that formed the lake by flowing down from the Alps, ran into the promontory and was forced to split into two. Thus the characteristic upside-down “Y” shape of the lake came into being. Bellagio is in the centre.
The hotel is located in the town centre, overlooking the piazza on the lakefront. The bar tables spread under the ancient lakeside portico, which is Bellagio’s lively salotto, or living room. An incomparable view of Lake Como is com- manded from the terrace restaurant with the Alps on the background.
